We as humans are sensory beings. This is how we explore and process information within our world. The Sensory Room at Wonderful Minds is a therapeutic space with a variety of equipment that provides People of Determination with personalized sensory input—helping them calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others.
Our sensory room is specially designed with a range of stimuli to help individuals develop and engage their senses through various sensory experiences. It also provides tactile, auditory, vestibular, proprioceptive and kinesthetic input as well as stimulating smell, sight and self-awareness through mindful breathing, visual imagery, yoga postures and exploratory stations throughout the space. Some of the equipment can include lights, colors, sounds, sensory soft play objects, aromas, ball pit, sensory lighting, balance boards, bouncing ball, swing, mirror wall, bubble tube, and a psychomotor circuit, all within a safe environment that allows the person using it to explore and interact without risk.
Research shows that sensory room experiences are beneficial for all children, with or without disabilities. However, it is especially helpful for children with Developmental Delay, Learning Difficulties, ADHD and Behavioral Concerns as well as Children on the Autism Spectrum.
